Operation Jeedara 2018

Defending the Great Australian Bight

The Great Australian Bight
The World's Best-Kept Secret

When we set sail on the M/Y Steve Irwin for the Great Australian Bight in 2016, we had no idea what we would find in one of the most remote and little understood places on Earth. Rich in biodiversity and beauty, we were surprised to find out that the Bight is home to one of the planet’s most significant whale nurseries and to some of the world’s rarest sealife. Critically-endangered Southern Blue Fin tuna, the Great White Shark, seals, dolphins, penguins, rare sea eagles, and 27 species of whale all call this pristine place home. We showcased to the world just how fragile the Great Australian Bight is and asked it to be left alone from Big Oil.

We’re back to shine another spotlight on the Bight so that we can continue to protect one of the world’s most important ecosystems. You can follow our campaign on socials by using the hashtag #Jeedara2018.
